Lorin Farr: Mormon Statesman
As a young man, Lorin Farr lay beside Joseph Smith with a rifle in hand, ready to defend the prophet he revered. Later, when Brigham Young called him to settle the Ogden Valley, he went to work wholeheartedly. He led Ogden as its mayor and stake president for two decades and became a driving force in bringing the transcontinental railroad through Utah. Lorin Farr’s posterity through his six wives and thirty-nine children inherit the legacy of his lifelong dedication to church, community, and growth of the American West.
